A subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., Brooks was founded in 1914 and is headquartered in Bothell, Wash., near Seattle. Brooks Sports GmbH in Münster, Germany, has been active in delivering Brooks products to countries of the EMEA-region (Europe, Middle East, Africa) since the 1990's. 800.000 pairs of shoes are dispatchend from the Münster headquarters each year.

  








Brooks is responsible for unveiling many breakthrough advancements in footwear, securing it a solid number two spot right behind industry giant Asics when it comes to performance running products. Notable technologies includr HydroFlow® FLX, an innovative technology that delivers unsurpassed cushioning; Diagonal Rollbar, a high-tech feature that’s like a dream come true for overpronators; Ethylene Vinyl Acetate™, a pioneering midsole material that’s now an industry standard; and BioMoGo, the world's first fully bio-degradable midsole. Other technologies introduced by Brooks include Podular Technology, e-Fusion and Substance 257. Our award-winning apparel line fuses function with fashion by using the most lightweight, moisture-moving fabrics including Brooks-owned HVAC, Silc, Aireplex and Vapor Dry™.


BioMoGo in particular has stoked the interest of the media. Brooks decided against patenting this valuable technology that will save nearly 30 million pounds of landfill waste over a 20-year period. Instead, it is making the science behind it available to the industry for free. This means that other footwear manufacturers are free to use it in their own shoes, which would have a major effect on reducing pollution. BioMoGo has garnered many prizes since its introduction, like the Runner's World International Green Award, the Footwear News Green Award and the Trail Runner Sprout Award.


Apart from the 32 premium shoe models, Brooks also manufactures a line of Apparel and Accesories that focuses on the runner's unique needs. Highly breathable and moisture transferring garments make runs under extreme conditions more comfortable, while the Nightlife-Collection offers increased visibility to runners who work out at night. "Our developers do everything to eliminate any excuse a runner could find not to go on a run," says Heiner Ibing with a wink.
