Two of Lancaster’s top young athletes finished off a fabulous cross-country season in style at the World School’s cross-country championships.
Hannah Bateson and Annika Jarman travelled to the Czech Republic on April 22 to represent England against the best junior runners from 11 other countries.
The race was just under 3000m and running in near perfect conditions Annika and Hannah performed well, with Annika finishing 14th in 9m.47 and Hannah in 24th in 10m.01.
The girls finished third and sixth for the England team, helping to secure a team bronze medal.
This race completed a tremendous cross-country season for the girls with both winning medals at the major competitions and thriving on the friendly competition between them.
Some of the highlights include Annika winning the bronze medal at the Inter-Counties race and at the Northerns cross-country Hannah finished second and Annika was third.
Brooks helped the girls with trainers (Axiom) and spikes (Mach 9) in conjunction with the Runners Centre, Lancaster to make sure they were in medal contention. Well done Hannah and Annika, a great season!
